Why a banknote
Everyone has a date they would not trade. The morning a child arrived. The day two people decided. The afternoon a shop opened with no certainty it would last.
On that exact day, in a press somewhere, ordinary money was being printed. It carried the date without ceremony, went out into the world, and passed through years of hands — and some of it survived.
That is what we look for. Not a replica, not a certificate, not a commemorative issue struck for collectors. A note that was genuinely there, doing nothing more remarkable than being money.
Who we are
My Lucky Dates is the gift side of a philately and paper-currency business. The day-to-day work is what it has always been: sorting, grading and keeping notes and stamps that most people walk past. What changed is who we send them to — not collectors, but someone who wants to hand a particular year to a particular person.
The collection is the same one we have built and traded from for years. It was never assembled with birthdays in mind, which is exactly why it holds the ordinary, unremarkable notes that happen to carry the dates people care about.
What we are careful about
We do not pretend to have every date. Some are common and some are genuinely scarce. If we cannot find yours we say so, and you are not charged — you only ever pay for a note already in our hands.
We do not dress up condition. These notes circulated. They have folds, soft corners, the marks of having been spent. We grade Fine or better and we describe what we send accurately, because the alternative is a disappointed person holding a gift.
We do not sell reproductions. Every note is an original that genuinely entered circulation. More on how we source and check them on the Authenticity & Sourcing page.
We do not take money for a search. Requesting a date is free and always will be. Payment happens once, after we have the note and you have decided you want it.
What arrives
A genuine circulated banknote bearing your date, in Fine or better condition, in a UV-protective archival sleeve, with a personalised card, in a kraft-lined presentation box. Ready to give, no wrapping needed. ₹499 per note, tracked delivery across India included.
